Underground: Order and Distortion

Today brought good news and bad news...

The bad news is that I think my car might have died :-( I've had it for 8 years (it is 24 this year): we're old friends... There have been 3 problems waiting to happen that would (probably) be too expensive for me to fix:
1. The timing chain has been noisy and due to fail.
2. The drive shaft's CV joint boot (and perhaps the joint) need replacing.
3. the rear subframe mounts need replacing.

Today, the noisy timing chain made a new and unhappy noise: it went "Click" "Ziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip" "Clunk" and now the car is making a loud rasping/clattering noise rather than its usual mechanical whirring sound. MEH! I'm rubbish with cars, but the noise behaves in the same way as the timing chain noise (except that it is much unhappier) and now the engine is ticking over very unevenly, so I suspect that the dreaded timing chain problem has arrived. My nice mechanic is looking into whether he can find a second-hand engine (!) which makes the problem sound pretty terminal to me. Argh.

The good news is that my new camera and lenses are arriving tomorrow! Yippee :-)

I may soon be seeing more of these mirrors.
