HOARFROST

It's Mono Monday and the Challenge is HIGH and/or LOW........in case you can't tell, I'm looking HIGH at some tree branches and quite an accumulation of hoarfrost.

The astute weathertechies in Blipville might ask...."How do you know it isn't Rime Ice?"
~
I know because there was no fog last night and hoar frost is formed by direct condensation of water vapor to ice at temperatures below freezing and occurs when air is brought to its frost point by cooling.  Basically it's produced from water vapor, not liquid water.
~
Rime ice forms when supercooled liquid water (fog ) droplets freeze onto surfaces.

Both look a LOT alike...the difference is in how the crystals were formed.  Best viewed in Large.
