A late arrival

For the first time in some weeks we have come to the bech house this morning. Since we were last here our insurers have project managed repairs to the floor and ceiling in the main room due to water ingress. The rain river and the cyclone have shown that everything should now be waterproof. The cedar cladding has had a fresh coat of stain. A handyman has done some tidying, with more to be done. I'm unable to use my left arm for another two weeks yet.

As any of the jobs here will require use of both arms, I left my book mid afternoon and walked on the mudflats with my Pentax. First birds I saw were a family group of Tuturiwhatu (dotterels). Nearby were Kuaka busily feeding in advance of their trek back to Alaska. I didn't want to disturb them and was too far away for a good photo.

The usual white faced herons and red billed gulls were present. Also three Poaka (pied stilts). Around the point onto Fidelis Beach. On the rock platform out from the point, was a reasonably big flock of Tara (white fronted terns. My blip is of one of the latecomers coming into land on the rock.
