Onwards and upwards....

3002. Make do and mend….

I absolutely love this jacket, it was second hand when I got it and I have worn it every week at some point for years but it was starting to show signs of fraying on the edges.  I had another coat a few years ago that I loved and I took it to a dressmaker to get some bias binding stitched around all the edges to try and prolong it’s life a little bit longer and that one is still going too.  So, I decided to try and do this one myself as it’s pretty much straight edges and I knew I could do it on my machine ok.  I was going to do the cuffs as well but my “free” arm on my sewing machine is a bit too wide for these cuffs, so if I am going to do the cuffs, I will need to do it by hand and to be honest I couldn’t be bothered today!

It’s all done and it looks fine, not quite the perfect job the dressmaker did on my other coat but a decent job nonetheless, so I’m happy.

I’m also delighted that Scotland won (with a bonus point too) against Italy, but wow, the Italians were really strong and could have taken that match.  I couldn’t watch it all the way through but caught a few highlights and shouts from my hubby through in the lounge!
