A Meandering Life...

Nelson

Named after quite a famous sailor because the North Island already named a city after a famous soldier. Well that's the simplistic way of at looking at it. For us Nelson is about boats and water. We stay next to the marina and we love seeing the boats.

Today we returned to the Tahunanui Beach where the Frisbee folk were starting their games again. We also visited the new Te Pa Harakeke park which looks wonderful. Time will improve it as plants get established.

My extra shows the famous AOTEAROA mural near where the first settlers memorial can be found. I noticed my late brother's namesake was on one of the first boats to arrive in 1841. Also shown is Nelson's Cathedral inside and out.

I have just tried to get a night shot of the marina. Not bad for a mobile phone so I've added it as an extra extra.
