The Boot Room

Yet another sea day before we make landfall at the most remote inhabited island on earth -- Tristan da Cunha -- tomorrow morning.

This is a collage of the heart of the expedition operations on board Silver Cloud -- the boot room.  Normally, this place looks like bedlam, with scores of passengers jockeying for position in order to put their sea boots on before boarding the Zodiacs.  Everybody has an assigned shelf to store their boots, and sitting space on those benches is highly competetive!  The blue appliance is a boot jack -- an essential piece of equipment when it comes time to pry ones sea boots off at the end of an adventure ashore!
