The Edge of the Wold

Of tide and time

I have walked along the shore from Arnside, past the Coastguard Station and the boat park to the rabbit field every night for the last week. Each evening it has been completely different - light, tide, movement of water, birds. The shape of the mudflats changes overnight, and when the tide is coming in, a scene such as this is transformed in minutes - as it was tonight. In this shot there is a little party of mallards on the water, and the view is across the Kent estuary to Meathop quarry.

Still no news! May come back later and update.

Update. A baby should arrive within the next 12 hours, Anna is in labour, and has been since this morning. Poor girl, she will be absolutely exhausted.
