A time for everything

Another musical evening

Sunday
This evening we enjoyed a very different musical event to yesterday evenings Ceilidh. The tenor choral scholar who sings with our church choir had been invited to sing with Cincinnati Fusion Ensemble, a professional singing ensemble, conducted by Howard Helvey, who is organist and music director at Calvary Episcopal church in Clifton, the university area of the city. He is also a nationally and internationally recognized prolific composer of sacred music. Some years ago now, at our previous church, that choir (which we were a part of) sang with the Calvary Episcopal church choir a program of Howard Helvey’s compositions. Several people from our current church choir were interested in going, but either can’t or don’t want to drive at night, so we offered to take them down. It was a great, varied concert, including a guest organist from Texas, and Cincinnati Boys choir, as well as the Cincinnati Fusion Ensemble. Afterwards, we were able to get a quick selfie of the group of us with Matt, our favourite tenor at the right!
