Bowood 2013 #10: Big Machinery Day

Hard on the heels of my falconry experience at Lacock came this special event at Bowood House and Grounds. The Big Machinery day involved various tractors (one was providing rides) and agricultural machinery including a plough and this £18,000 contraption. My blip is somewhat of an abstraction, but for any farming enthusiasts I did note that this is a Lemken Kristal 4 M folding cultivator, used to prepare seedbeds at planting times of spring or autumn.

Of course, I had to also visit Tractor Ted's Little Barn, where the big news was the arrival of two new Belgian Blue cross-breeds: William (born on 23rd March), who was quite friendly and curious, and, inevitably I'm afraid, Harry, one day younger. They had only arrived in the Little Barn the day before and Harry wasn't at all sure what was happening and looks a little nonplussed.
