James Watt, Artist

Puffers, a vital spark

Great shot - and we get to say that because this photograph is courtesy of Ian Stuart, Depute at Islay High School.

After pupils from Kirkintilloch meet James Watt and hear about his paintings of puffers on Thursday, the Art & Design class will be going out to the East India Harbour to take inspiration for their own paintings, and the Drama class will be hearing his stories of life on the puffers, as he remembers sailing with the crews from Paisley to Islay.

We're planning to link up with Islay High School to get an impression of where the puffers were going and why they were important. This shot, taken at Inveraray, was sent to inspire the pupls.

And puffers obviously inspire! Here's a trip down memory lane, courtesy of other blippers this time. Enjoy!
