Dead jaggy

...and if you're not Scottish you may be wondering why I'd dub such vigorously alive thistles as dead; think "pure dead jaggy" in Chewin' the Fat and you'll get the idea. This specimen was among the wild mustard on the verge of the Ardyne track this afternoon, in weather that at that point felt more like November than June. Half an hour later the sun came out, the sky turned blue, and the temperature rose.

Somehow the thistle seems an appropriate symbol for Scottish weather as well as everything else.
