I faffed about a lot this morning, couldn't make up my mind between a walk in the Peak District, a trip to M&S on the bus or a tour of the local dealerships to kick-start my search for another car... eventually the walk won!
I needn't have worried about parking as I've got a Peak District NP parking permit and there was plenty of room, most other folk having parked on the road. I like to buy a permit because I get a lot of pleasure from the Peak District, and the permit's only £40 per annum.
My next to little toes have been giving me some gyp over the last couple of weeks - no idea why this has suddenly happened but I'm blaming it on a Vinted purchase! I thought my walking boots were okay for the toes, but thirty minutes into today's walk proved that they weren't. I took my sock off and found a toenail digging in causing bleeding. Oh b****r! I tightened my laces and hoped for the best, but did cut a couple of miles off my route.
It was fantastic to be walking in the Hathersage area, starting from Upper Burbage and circling round via the Longshaw Estate and Higgar Tor, the colours of the moorland were fantastic.
I came home via Outside in Hathersage and bought new walking poles, my existing ones being too tall and not sufficiently adjustable....! They're Alpkit and I bought them some years ago, purely because they folded so small, I didn't use them for walking, just for scree and crossing streams. Now, with a meniscus tear on one knee and aged 71 I'm giving in and using poles!
At home I managed, through gritted teeth, to cut the offending nail, let's hope that's enough. I'm not sure I'm going to go to the bouldering wall tomorrow though.
