Outside.

"Take care!" if heartfelt, can mean
much, yet so often words are empty.
Silent, long-forgotten rooms where
spiders scuttle along scuffed skirting
boards. Seeking refuge in the cracks.

Beauty needs to breathe. One cannot
trap and jealously conserve the things
one loves. There must be space. But with
that space comes respect. Sincerity. You're
outside, but you can come back. If you want.

Knowing that. Caressing the soft promise of
a home. Where the outside world, if need be,
is far away. Distant with its dangers and dirt.
Just the knowledge. The certainty of freedom
and not obligation. That is enough.
