Life is a Challenge!

K is for KEYS

Trying to keep strictly to the ALPHABET CHALLENGE, I was struggling to find something beginning with the letter K - but then I espied our KEY box near the back door and hey presto, there was my today's blip. Of course, I then thought of KETTLE, or KALEIDOSCOPE or KEYBOARD and I'm sure my American or Canadian friends would have had a KEY Lime Pie sitting in the kitchen.

When I Googled the word KEY, I found the following:

Key (lock) - device used to open a lock such as in a door
Key - a guide to colours and symbols used in a data chart, graph, plot or diagram
Key (cryptography) - a piece of information that controls the operation of a cryptography algorithm
Key (engineering) - a type of coupling used to transmit rotation between a shaft and an attached item
Cay, also spelled key - a small, low-elevation, sandy island formed on the surface of a coral reef
Key (map) - a guide to a map's symbology

Who would have guessed that one 3 letter word could have so many meanings? I did learn something from this and that was that I need to brush up on my cryptography algorithms - but having Googled that too, I find that:

In cryptography, a key is a piece of information (a parameter) that determines the functional output of a cryptographic algorithm or cipher. Without a key, the algorithm would produce no useful result.

I'm sure my friend, Keith, would understand this perfectly, so will ask him to explain this when he comes to breakfast on Wednesday because it means absolutely nothing to me!

Looking at all these definitions, is it any wonder that people find it difficult to learn English, especially when we don't know all the meanings for words?

Have a great week, fellow blippers and may all your algorithms have perfect results and if they don't, let me know and I will ask Keith on Wednesday!

This is a revelation from Jesus Christ:
…..I am the living one. I died, but look -
I am alive forever and ever!
And I hold the keys of death and the grave.
Revelation 1 : 1 & 18
New Living Translation

P.S. If you are wondering why the black rectangle is in our key box, it's our car key!
