Interesting day
Last week I was fitted with hearing aids, one for each ear, much to the relief of anyone who tried to talk to me. They are wonderful, small, controlled by me via an app and, because they are Bluetooth, phone calls, pod casts music etc. from the mobile phone play directly into my ears so I can listen to music all day. Except it does not work as my phone, a Samsung A14 as it does not allow for hearing aid connection. Virtually every other phone in the world, including Samsung's, has this link but not mine. If I had bought the self same phone in America the link would be there but it has been blocked for UK users. Strange.
Anyway I have to get a new phone and as I have been using the mobile for blips more than my big Canon I decided I would have one with a good camera, a Google phone. Did the research, found the prices and went to the shop to sort it out. It turns out I don't understand the system. I got the price of the phone right but did not allow for the price of the SIM card, which doubled the overall monthly cost. I don't need a SIM card as I already have one but there is no choice. Confused I retreated from the shop without doing anything and went to lunch to let my head regroup. This was a good move as I found Google sells their phones directly, interest free credit, no SIM for exactly the same price as I initially expected. Sorted and a lot of money spent. You can expect pictures from Wednesday onwards taken on my new magic phone.
After all this excitement we went to the cinema to see Mr. Burton, the story of Richard Burton the actor in his youth in South Wales and his start in acting. Really interesting but it has a very limited release so not many people will see it. As it was there was only five of us watching it today. Three of us did not spent most of the film talking, looking at their phone screens and opening sweets with extremely crunchy wrappers.
It takes all sorts but I wish that sort had not sat so close to me
