My glamorous assistant

DN2 and I ran out stall at Nutley Village Fete. It was very hot but a lovely day. I didn't do as well as usual - I think it was too hot for anyone to think about buying a mug for their cuppa!!!! But a few of my older bits sold so I was happy with that.

It was lovely to have DN2s help, especially as Mr W was busy attending a garden party!! She was especially helpful when it came to clearing up, and the highlight of her day was selling her own pottery. She was BUZZING!

Now, the usual routine for post fete dinner is to stop on the way home for a take away because quite honestly I'm exhausted after working in the sun all day. But today was a bit different.

After dropping DN2 home I had to go and find my husband at his garden party. I knew the vague area he was in but didn't know the proper address but by the time I messaged Mr W he was past making any sense at all and didn't answer his phone. All I got was the house number!! So after driving around for half an hour I finally found him, absolutely and totally smashed. Slumped in the corner of a garden sofa, drying to drink ice-cream out of a bowl. He had been on Aldi champagne all afternoon in the sunshine. He was an absolute mess. Now I'm not a fan of the host so didn't want to have to go in but was forced to sit and wait for my husband to come out of his champagne coma - starving hungry, filthy dirty and sweaty and very tired. Instead I watched  him snore his head off with his head tipped backwards, sounding like a walrus. The hosts partner sadly has dementia and sat next to me asking what that awful noise was!!!!! But also kept telling me not to wake him up!!!! In the end I did have a nice chat with the remaining guests, all asking me questions wanting to get to know me, thinking I was 10 years younger than I was and thinking I was Mr Ws daughter rather than his wife!! 3 hours later I managed to wake him up where he was promptly sick down himself. The host managed to help me get him to the car where he clutched a wine cooler as a sick bowl. Getting him out the car was interesting but got him on the sofa where he slept for the next 2 hours while I watched The 1975 at Glastonbury. At 11pm I woke him up again and managed to push him up the stairs and into bed in the spare room as I wasn't having him snoring and burping in bed next to me!!!!

I tried hard not to be cross with him. I doubt he meant to get that drunk and after all it's him who will be suffering in the morning!!! But I will in time let him know how his over indulgence affected me and my day, but not while he's feeling as embarrassed as he is!!!
