Lund BC

Powell River is an interesting municipality.  You can drive from Saltery Bay to Lund.  At Saltery Bay you can ride a ferry to go to the Sechelt Peninsula, en route to Vancouver.  At Lund the road ends in a lovely village.  There is a tiny ferry to Cortez Island, holds 2 or 3 cars or a water taxi, passengers and bicycles, to Savary Island.  Growing up in PR, as teenagers, we felt isolated, and didn't appreciate the benefit of NOT having a highway through, nor appreciate the beauty  of having the ocean so close.  Trips back have me viewing the town with adult eyes, and will keep me going back so long as I'm able.  The extra photo shows a building in Sliamon Nation, the indigenous community in PR.  This is a community that has grown from a group of delapidated homes to a community showing pride in their history of being the first settlers of the land.
