Orzo salad

This was called Spring Fregola salad in a Guardian Feast. Fregola, like Pomegranate Molasses and Tahini, cannot be sourced anywhere near us (Waitrose is a 60 mile round trip), so I used Orzo instead. There’s also peas and courgettes in it, with ricotta, toasted flaked almonds, lemon juice and zest plus lots of fresh herbs and extra virgin olive oil. It’s delicious. We’ll have it with smoked peppered mackerel.

Mr C took the car to Cramlington to get the wheels fixed. The local garage gave us the wrong tyres which caused us an expensive problem. We won’t go back. Now we need 2 new back tyres as well. It’ll be there 3 days. He got the bus home.

Linda came up to have coffee and to see the bathroom. She’s impressed. She was also after travel insurance advice. She’s decided she’ll not be going on holiday with Colin who has Parkinson’s as she too fragile herself to be his carer. She’s going painting in Orkney with some friends.

It was a lovely warm, but not too hot, afternoon. Mr C and I decided to have a walk to Westhills but I had to turn back as the leg was getting sorer. (It wasn’t so bad in the night - it only woke me 3 times not every hour).

Nathaniel enjoyed his day filming but says he thinks it’ll be the back of his head only that can be seen. He had fun
Playing table tennis with some other lads.

Thomas had a reading test and is reading at aged 17.5 however that’s worked out. Obviously above Daily Fail level. I expect it was full of weird scientific terms.

Ella sent a photo of her ready for her leaving Middle School Disco. Black trousers, white T shirt, black jacket with lots of zips. And sunglasses. Very Goth. Or maybe Reservoir Dogs.
