New neighbours
Every year at this time something arrives in the nearest field and usually it is these white cows, although there have never been as many as the eight that arrived yesterday.
I waited for them to make their way up the field so I could photograph them, but only one arrived . . . so here is the one. (Of course, five minutes later, when I looked out of the bedroom window, they were all there - might be another photo another day!)
They are rather nice - for cows! They are British White, a minority breed; very white and docile. I just don’t think the field is big enough to provide for eight cows. The field belongs to a farmer who doesn’t even live in the village, he just seems to own this field and is regarded in the village as pretty useless. Last year he filled the field with sheep who promptly ‘escaped’ - some into our garden - but most were found wandering the village. Someone eventually rounded them up and we never saw them again!
