Podded
More bean-podding. More mulch-spreading. More weeding. More sunshine.
The white butterfly beans - in the lower bowl - mysteriously grow 50% white and 50% black. I grew plants from black beans on one wigwam last year, and at the other end of the bed I grew plants from white beans. Both wigwams gave me a mixture of black and white beans. Curious. They taste the same whatever the colour.
The smaller bowl contains Muriel's Magic beans, which are my favourite for making baked beans. It wasn't a big crop, but I still have about the same amount again left from last year. I shan't go short.
Birds are flying across the property intent on depositing beakfuls of material in new and renovated nests. Song thrushes top and tail the day singing from the highest spots they can find. Warbling magpies are waking before me for the first time in a while.
And the first lambs have appeared in paddocks along the road.
Happy days.
