Lochan na h-Earba

The desk day was preceded by a slightly decadent swift tramp up to Lochan na h-Earba.
It was a stunning morning with overnight mist slowly rising up the mountains to expose deep blue sky above. We know the walk so well yet every time you come round the last bend on the path and the loch comes in to view there is still the desire to let out a big “Wow” at the unfolding view.

A few days without rain has allowed the water to recede exposing beautiful banks of sand. The loch is fed by a burn at its south west end and this scours out a constantly changing channel through the sandy beach to reach the loch proper.
It goes without saying that Bruce loved this spot and his absence on such a beautiful walk was difficult to accept. His walks here and to the surrounding mountains were some of his earliest adventures.

Curiously Caley expressed no interest in his breakfast first thing and I tipped the contents of his bowl (a high quality kibble) in to a food bag and took it with us in the rucksack. Upon arrival at the loch -by which time Caley had covered many miles chasing ball and stick- M offered him his meal again and this time he munched it up as quickly as M could present it to him, in a palm of hand shaped bowl.
In a wholesome way the humans had some fruit to keep them going too.

I use the expression 100 blip day too often but this was a 100 blip morning.
