Dreaming in the wheat field

Today has been spent at home with lots of catching up to do after a few days away. This included a visit to the village shop for the local paper, eggs and a loaf of bread made in the oven at the village hall. I popped over to see L and S and picked up the prints I have to present at the club in a fortnigh's time.

On the phone we've had my cousin from NZ on her birthday for a long chat and later on a call from a dear friend of ours who has just been through a lot of unnecessary anxiety about the worst possible scenario with a mole on her neck. (The worst catastrophic thinking I've heard in a long time.)

By the end of the afternoon I needed to breathe some fresh air so I went for a walk around the fields. A week ago the wheat ears were standing up proud and ripe. They look a bit dried out and sad now. Every one is drooping.

This is a combined image using the gentle grasses growing around the edges of the field with one wheat ear.

Then the Last Night of the Proms. There was some extremely good playing tonight and an interesting programme. Great that a woman has conducted the concert too.
