Limerick ice-breaker

NB This blip is more about words than pictures, and best viewed large ;-)

I taught my first class of the new academic year this morning. As a way of encouraging the students to learn one another's names and discover a little of their backgrounds, I put them in groups and asked them to write limericks about each other. Here is the output.

There once was a young man from Germany
A land of cheer and harmony
He landed in the UK
Where he came to stay
To learn all about KM and irony

There once was a young boy called Michael
Who liked to drink Coke and to cycle
He pedalled all day
And drank on the way
To take all the cans to recycle

There once was a girl called Sara
Who worked in a home as a carer
She played lots of tricks
She stole walking sticks
Just as her tutor had dared her

There once was a student Beata
She spent all her time at regattas
Where she looked out to sea
Dreaming of tea
As if nothing else ever mattered

There once was a student called Cherry
Who always felt sick eating berries
She tried hard to stop
Instead ate a chop
Fell ill, died, and was buried

There once was a student called Tony
Who came from a land which was stony
He dug with his spade
And found lots of jade
Then made his escape on a pony

Exercise today - walked to work, 1 hour.
