Waiting for the sunset

It's almost a year since the most fiery Arnside sunset ever. And this afternoon, as Gus and I went for our last walk of the day along the prom past Ashmeadow, it looked like there might be another classic. The sun had dropped into a gap below a flat sheet of cloud. But this was as good as it got, the wind was moving the cloud quickly westwards and the sky above was clearing. There was a faint touch of fire, but nothing spectacular.

This may be the last sunset for a few days, as it looks like we are in for a few damp days.
