West View Park, Halifax

West View Park is another nice Victorian Park in Halifax.
Lots of cobbled walks around a steeply sloping site. The war memorial you can see is to the memory of 73 soldiers who fell in the South African or Boer Wars and was unveiled in 1904.
An elaborate stone structure, it had four bronze tablets giving details of the men and the conflict. These disappeared in 2008 and have not returned - reportedly stolen.
The statue is a figure of a soldier. also made of bronze and is Grade II listed.
Maybe he survived because he is so high up :-)

Viewed 'large' you can see a bit more of him!
