Marine Esplanade

We went to Portobello this morning, for a long arranged mini blipmeet with Joppastrand and Tiggy. Coffee and chat all round. Great fun - and lovely to meet you in person!

Each of us chose our preferred method of transport - so Mr Alf went by bus and I cycled. On the way back, knowing that it would take me less time to get home, I took a brief detour down Marine Esplanade. As the place where you access the water treatment plant, 'Edinburgh Scientific Services', and a few other businesses, not to mention a well known local dumping spot, it is one of Leith's least well named places. None the less, it gives a fine back view onto the Port of Leith, in particular the now derelict flour mill.

I was spoilt for choice of photos today, what with the brilliant light on the Prom, a view of one of Porty's icon activities - the sea rowing, and then later a lovely sunset behind the castle (only possible at this time of the year).

Yesterday evening, I also put all the Fountains Abbey photos from a few weeks ago into a set on flickr.

Much more detail in large.
