The border

Today is my step-father's birthday. We decided to take him out to a nice pub for lunch. I found a pub near him that has a good reputation and we took him up there at lunch time today. It's on top of the hill over looking Shaw and Crompton where he lives. The pub was very nice, beer was bit dull but the food was very good. Their menu had a nice history of the building and as a feature they have a nice beam perpendicular to the bar showing the Lancashire/Yorkshire border. While my grandmother was from Yorkshire and I did my degrees there, I consider myself to be a Lancastrian, even though I now live in Hampshire. In my defence both Lancashire and Hampshire share the Red Rose as part of their identity...!

After the pub, we took dad back home and went to explore the Tour d'France route that will pass by the pub as it climbs up Holme Moss.
