Monarch and Dahlia

There's been many monarchs in my garden this summer, the life cycle has been fascinating to watch.

I never new the difference between a male and a female until just the other day - this one is a male with one black spot either side of the lower abdomen. I also didn't realise how much they like the open flowers of the dahlia, sometimes jostling with the bees, another reason I will be planting more next year.

No surprise, I've been gardening again today but now we have thunder, the temperature has dropped and we're forecast for hail - I've already grabbed the washing in.

An early blip and some inside jobs to be done.
