View from Bloedel Donovan

My home is a short walk from Bloedel Donovan Park, situated directly on beautiful Lake Whatcom. When the boys were still little boys, we used to own an old 21' Bayliner, and it was from Bloedel's boat launch that our adventures would begin each summer. The park is a very popular spot during the warm weather, and there would often be a line of vehicles with boats of all shapes and sizes, waiting their turn to use the launch.

Today's brilliant weather was the complete opposite of what we endured only 36 hours+ earlier so I took the opportunity to have a walk in the park with Lola during my self-proclaimed lunch break. Though there was still plenty of snow on the ground, the sky was deep blue and the smooth surface of the lake's water beckoned me to jump in. In the distance, you can see what I believe are egrets spreading their wings to soak up the sun's warmth.

In about 3-4 months, this very spot will be filled with children playing, kayaks and canoes, and motorboats vrooming across the lake. Bloedel even provides a spot for water-loving dogs like Lola Malu to jump in for a swim.

Until then, I'm keeping my coat zipped up and snow boots near the door!
