A day at the races

The racecourse at Stratford is right beside an old railway line which is now a cyclepath called The Greenway. Technophobe and I cycled along here last week and observed what a good view there was of the racecourse. Stratford races had an event today so I went back to take some pictures.

As I parked I met a couple of photographers from a Warwickshire photo group who were meeting with the same idea as me. They were very friendly and I am going to consider joining them again as they regularly meet up at photo locations in the area.

I had a great afternoon. It was bitterly cold but it was possible to get up really close to the action as you can see from this picture. If you go to this location you don't have to pay entry charges and the views are better. There is good parking a few hundred yards away and a tea room to retreat to between races. Altogether a grand day out!

Would be a good place for a Blipmeet

PS that isn't dirt on my sensor - the black specks are bits of soil and grass thrown up by the horses' hooves.
