Mr. Mandarin

Today was beautifully sunny so I took my mother to Llangollen for the afternoon. There's a nice flat path by the side of the River Dee and plenty of seats for sitting in the sun.
I spotted this handsome male Mandarin Duck swimming on the river. I had taken a few photos of him swimming around when he flew onto the wall and posed beautifully for me.
They originate in China but the British population are escapees from captivity. My bird book says that they nest in holes in oak trees. It would be quite a sight to see one of them peeping out of the branches! I didn't see a female there so I hope that he finds one and occupies an oak tree nursery somewhere.
