Last View of Wellington

...is the title of a poem by the New Zealander Louis Johnston which is featured on the imaginative "Writers Walk" along the Wellington seafront.

From Brooklyn hill, ours is a doll-size city
A formal structure of handpicked squares and bricks
Apprehensible as a child’s construction
Signifying community.


This is a great, manageable ,beautiful city in a country that will feel like home to anyone from Scotland. I am sure I will be back
