Loyal Tea...

Chantler's April 2014 Shakespeare Challenge - Earl of Kent

The Earl of Kent, in King Lear, was the epitomy of loyalty. Sent away for sticking up for the faithful Cordelia, he came back disguised as a peasant, to serve the King once more. Why did Lear not notice the disguise? Because the truly expert loyal servant is not noticed. Lear would only see the cup of tea, kindly placed before him, not seeing the hand which had provided it.

On this occasion, I made the tea, but it was my loyal daughter's hand, which was passing it towards me.
