Yarnbomb

A group of enthusiastic, artistic ladies from Rotorua have been busy knitting and crocheting heaps of brightly colourful stripes and designs for the last 3 or 4 months to decorate the tree outside the Rotorua Arts Village. They have had "knitting bees" and many people have learnt how to knit and crotchet in the process, and all pieces had to be worked in really bright acrylic yarn.
Sunday was decoration day and although I wasn't there it was evidently great fun with many involved.
I was in town today and checked it out, just couldn't believe how absolutely fabulous it looked. I spent ages, there are so many little things included such as flowers and fruits and cobwebs and balls and..... I will have to do some more blips later on of closeups of areas of the tree. This "installation" will be on the tree for at least 12 months, plenty of time for people to enjoy it.
What a fantastic achievement for all concerned.
