Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Byrds - I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better (recorded 14 April 1965)
Gene Clark brought this song to the Byrds (or the Jet Set as they were known at the time) and they recorded it as The Reason Why on the demo tapes that got them their Columbia Records contract. He takes the lead vocal, and Jim McGuinn adds the trademark 12-string Rickenbacker guitar. The distinctive riff borrows from Needles And Pins (apparently the Searchers' version rather than Glen Campbell on Jackie De Shannon's original recording). It was recorded on this day in 1965.
Columbia put this out on the flip of All I Really Want To Do (it was also on their first LP) but it entered the US charts in its own right and became one of their key songs.
