The Poss

St George's Flag.

Mrs P's birthday today and it's perhaps a good job she was not born in England as she might have had the misfortune of being called Georgie/Georgia. We went to Fort William as she wanted to visit "The Lime Tree" which is a restaurant with an art gallery and, she thought, stained glass. Found the place in time for lunch but quickly found the restaurant only does evening meals and there's no stained glass except for a large window. And nothing exciting in the gallery. After a look round the town and a pub meal went on to Corpach just round the corner at the head of Loch Linnhe. The Caledonian Canal enters the sea here and this picture was taken at the lock flying over a cottage on the lockside. Rather a surprise to see it in darkest Scotland. Then to the "Treasures of the Earth" museum of rocks, precious stones, and fossils with attached gift shop. Mrs P judged it "not as good" as the one in Golspie, Sutherland. Finally a walk up Neptune's Staircase - the flight of locks which takes the canal up to a higher level and also gives views across to the Nevis Range. Today shrouded in mist.
