Bowood 2014 #6

Who needs Westonbirt when I have acers like this acer 'palmatum' on my doorstep?

I have been using Bowood slightly differently so far this year. Instead of going once or twice a week for an afternoon, I've been calling in more frequently but for an hour or less at a time, to get a coffee or to sit in the grounds when I had some paperwork to do - treating the grounds like a rather grand back garden, in fact.

On this visit, looking for a suitable bench to sit and read on, I also came across an acer 'brilliantissima' - the only one I've seen apart from the one in my own back garden - among the maple trees. Later, from where I was sitting, I spotted a hare in the middle distance.
