Happy New Year

My little boys marvelled at all the lights at Disneyland for the New Year celebrations and here, especially, at It's a small World.

What joy to bring them into the new decade happy and healthy. Health is a true blessing in our home and Reuben, aged 2.5 and with 11 multiple surgeries under his belt, stepped into the new day, the new year, the new decade with health and happiness.

The first fireworks arrived at 10pm at the Magic Kingdom, and many families with little children like our own devoured them with eager, awaiting eyes, Callum, his delicate index finger pointing, saying "da?".

Arriving home just before midnight, the last moments of the old decade were spent lying down by Reuben's side as he slept in his crib, his warm body curled into mine, his soft lips all plump and his oh so tired eyes flickering in his sleep and at the stroke of midnight, I softly sang Auld Lang Syne into his ear, the one that hears marginally better than his severely right deaf right ear.

It's a small World after all.
