Southern Constellations over Te Waihora

Shot on the way back home from Diamond Harbour at Stony Point, on the shores of Lake Ellesmere. This is just before midnight, but still the faintest light of the sun shines on the far south-western horizon.

This is a view south across the Kaituna Lagoon, with the constellations of Crux, Vela and Carina shining bright at the southern tail of the Milky Way..
