Off the hump!

This is a throwing technique that makes it quick and easy to make small 'tuckers' to go into the kiln! You see, potters hate having little spaces in the kiln unoccupied! some forms just don't make a very economical use of the space. so....a lot of us make 'tuckers'....these little condiment bowls fit nicely in spaces too small for mugs, cups or whatever....they just snuggle nicely under big bowls, etc. They also are a nice little piece that someone can pick up for $12! throwing off the hump is a wonderfully productive way to make a lot of one thing! From this big lump of clay i can make about 10-12 little condiment bowls!

it felt so good to be in my space once more! listening to CBC, then some good music!

in other news...it was sunny and warm...... we have 2 wwoofers (willing workers on organic farms) world wide opportunities on organic farms.....(nicely brought to my attention my Himself!)with us at the moment. Reiko is from Japan and Emily is from Toronto. they worked hard in the garden today, preparing for the 2 truck loads of horse shit Terry got!
