Piano man

A traditional shiny black grand piano sits in the open space of the entrance to the flagship and high-tech Bexley Wing of Jimmy's... St James's University Hospital in Leeds - purpose built for cancer patients.

Often when we've been, beautiful music is lightening the air as you walk in to what I've previously described for me as quite a daunting place - despite its splendour. L told me anyone can play it and we've often seen patients sitting losing themselves in music.

I've often wondered who the inspired person was that requested it be placed there.

This moment actually prompted me to listen to the lyrics of Billy Joel's The Piano Man. Perhaps someone else had done that too. There are quite a few poignant messages but this one, perhaps the most significant:

We're all in the mood for a
melody
And you've got us feeling alright.

So Mike here who had disappeared into a beautiful classical piece, also gave everyone walking through a difficult time in their lives a little bit of a lift today.

Someone got it right.
