Into the bright light

Another beautiful day here in the Alps. Gavin and I took Murdoch for a wonderful long walk enjoying all the wild flowers and fields of cow parsley that the farmers are busy mowing as winter fodder for their cattle. I took many photos which you can see here if you are interested, but I liked this one into the bright morning light (even though it features cow parsley again as did yesterday's image)

On our walk Gavin and I were reminiscing about the past ten summers we have spent here on holiday. Thomas was only three years old when he started walking in the mountains, doing really long walks while most of his little friends were still in buggies (he was encouraged up the steep mountain paths by a trail of Haribo sweets!) There was a period when our boys were up early every morning and excitedly planned the daily hike - now the older teenagers prefer the golf and tennis to the walks, and so Gavin and I were reflecting on the changing needs of our family. I suppose we should be grateful that at 18 years old Luke is still happy to come on holiday with us!

After our walk we had a coffee in the village where we met a friend. Gavin, Luke and Adam played golf after lunch and now that they are back Gavin and I are about to go for a stroll to the village.
