Eagle Pond Mallard(ish) Family

Spot the odd one out it in large ("L").

I visited Eagle Pond on my way to the NHM this morning but the Goosles were nowhere to be seen! The mallard family had slept on the pond's overflow drain which was adorable. One is not like the others! I got several photos of the tufted duckling diving, and it really is funny to see it with the others when it is so different in shape, colouration, and behaviour.

The Goosles had gone on a day trip to the boating pond! Mr. and Mrs. were showing the fledglings a potential moving out spot; they do this each year in the days and weeks leading up to driving the fledglings away... In previous years Mrs. visited the fledglings at the boating pond once they moved away from Eagle Pond.

p.s. All pictures today were taken with the 24-70mm which was rather unconventional for me: most of my birdy pics are taken with the 70-200mm...
