Lozarhythm Of The Day #576:
The Beatles - A Taste Of Honey (recorded 11 February 1963)
R.I.P. Dora Bryan (b. 7 February 1923, Parbold, d. 23 July 2014, Brighton)
One of Dora Bryan's best known film roles was in A Taste Of Honey, an adaptation of the 1958 Shelagh Delaney play. The song was written as an instrumental for the subsequent Broadway production of the play and did not appear in the later British film version, but Dora Bryan did have a novelty hit with All I Want For Christmas Is A Beatle, so this would seem to be a fitting choice. The Beatles' version is a cover of the first vocal recording of the song, by Lenny Welch in 1962.
