The Lozarithm Lens

Arundel WWT

I spent almost five hours on the road driving down to West Sussex and got snarled in heavy traffic for a lot of it, but the high spot of the journey was the hour or so I spent at the Arundel Wildfowl and Wetland Centre in the afternoon. I had a picnic while waiting for a boat to take me round the wetlands and admiring the wildflowers, Hawaiian geese and a graceful mute swan. This time, unlike my previous visit, I was fortunate to see a water vole at close quarters - too close to get a picture of unfortunately, with reeds and the to-and-fro of the boat preventing focus.

Before the boat had returned to shore the rain held in the rolling grey clouds let loose in earnest and gave us a soaking. It didn't let up but I made a soggy walk around the main circuit in a clockwise direction and got to see a pair of trumpeter swans with their cygnet before continuing my journey.
