Garden of Cosmic Speculation

A coachload of us left Stirling this morning for the
rare privilege of a private visit to the garden of Charles Jencks in Dumfries under the auspices of Scotland’s Gardens.

Portrack, The Garden of Cosmic Speculation, is world famous. Apart from private parties like today the garden is only open once a year to the public.
It is an extraordinary garden based on one man’s vision and that of his late wife, Maggie.

This conceptual garden has over twenty areas depicting how the universe can be conceived today through such thing a DNA, wave-forms and various metaphors that root us in nature.

It was a memorable visit, which we will remember for a long time to come.

And it took our minds off tomorrows Referendum with its mounting allegations of intimidation by the Yes campaign.

Charles and Maggie went on to build Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres after she was diagnosed with the disease.
