Kop Hill 2014

It's getting to be an annual visit, the Kop Hill climb. Relatively local to us being in Princes Risborough, it gets a bit bigger and a whole lot better every year.

Kop Hill was one of the first hill climbs in the UK starting in 1910. In 1925 there was a minor accident involving a spectator but as a result, the RAC banned all motorsport events on public highways. In 2009 the event made a comeback and has grown every year since. It raises a huge amount for local charities (over £50k in 2013) and still has a good local feel to it.

There were a huge range of cars (and motorbikes) going up the hill over the weekend. Whilst there are certainly more pre than post war, there really was something for everyone right up to the latest Ferrari (LaFerrari) brought along by local car fan Jay Kay (of Jamiroquai fame). Paddy Hopkirk kicked off the event and it was this Mini he piloted up the hill that I picked from a bag of action shots. Touring car ace Rob Austin was there supporting the Aylesbury Youth Motor Project and I had a nice chat with him about this year's BTCC and his recent win at Rockingham.

Annie cooked a fabulous roast chicken dinner which we enjoyed with my parents. Pudding was home made meringues with raspberries and pistachios. Yummy.

Shame it's back to work tomorrow.
