Last night in Falmouth

Had a fab last day of the holiday. We got up with the intention of trying a bit of sea kayaking but when we walked over to Swanpool beach where we'd seen the kayaks for hire the other day, they were all stored away and the hire place was shut. We stood looking at the sea for a while and decided that swimming would be a really good idea instead. So we walked back into Falmouth on a bit of a mission and ended up with some rather bargainous swimming clothes.

Had lunch back at the house, then got our swimmers on and got ourselves down to Gyllyngvase beach. The water was frickin freezing!! We were rather trepidatious wading into it, but after we'd quite literally taken the plunge, it really wasn't too bad, and in fact was rather bracing ;) We managed to stay in a lot longer than I'd first imagined - although by the time I decided to get out, I was getting a bit shivery. Tim did one last big swim out and back again while I dried off, then we called it a day. Fun though!

Came back and had a hot drink and a hot shower, then had a wander through the town and back to the lovely cafe we went to on our first day here - for yet another coffee. Also scoped out a few restaurants for our dinner tonight - but Rick Stein's was too tempting, so we went back there again this evening for yet another delicious meal. Had a quick look out over the harbour after and got a few shots resting my camera on a railing. This one came out suprisingly well, I think, given how dark it was.
