Flying South

Today I went for a short walk, mainly to blip the snow that now lies everywhere. But in the end the snow had to wait (winter HAS only just begun) because the sky was more interesting.
I thought the geese had all headed south a few weeks ago but I was obviously wrong because during the short walk three flocks flew over. They were all headed south and were flying rather high, these in V-formation, but the other two flocks in a long line, actually half a V. They gave out a honk now and again as they flew so they were definitely geese!
The snow has fallen and frozen so the grass is no longer available to them and with temperatures staying below zero the lakes are beginning to freeze over so the weeds and mud are also less accessible. Time to head for the warmer climes!
