Coral Bells

Heucheras, also known as Coral Bells, were grown in past times for their delicate flowers in pink or white with interesting veined foliage.

It's a public holiday today in Canterbury, celebrating the regions official anniversary, known as Christchurch Show Day.

The public holiday was originally held on or around 15 December, the anniversary day of the old Canterbury province marking the arrival of the First Four Ships. It was moved to the Friday of Show Week sometime between 1955 and 1958. The Friday had been People’s Day at the Show for years, but the change offered the additional bonus of an official holiday for banks and businesses.

It's been a day of pottering inside for me, except for a quick nip outside to get this shot, its been warm and gusty. My eyes are only slightly better, thanks so much to all who stopped by yesterday, it was lovely to read your comments.

Enjoy the weekend everyone :)
